U.S. Ambassador Kenney Lays Wreath On Rizal Monument

In honor of Dr. José Rizal’s birthday on June 19, U.S. Ambassador Kristie A. Kenney visited the Rizal Monument in Manila and laid a wreath in recognition of the Philippines’ great national hero. On June 18, she toured Fort Santiago in Intramuros, where she reflected on the history of the Philippines and the contributions of Dr. Rizal. Kenney viewed his many writings and the site where he was imprisoned in 1896. Kenney said the work of Dr. Rizal reminded her that “we must have the vision and valor to make sure that the future for our children is a peaceful and prosperous one.”
