ZAMBOANGA CITY (Linda Bansil / 07 Dec) - The Amnesty International Zamboanga Group hosted a concert entitled "Music for Human Rights" and Modeling at the LRC Garden of the Ateneo de Zamboanga University here.
The concert, held recently, was in celebration of the group’s successful AI campaigns, such as the Juvenile Justice Campaign. The concert featured local bands -- Bad Grass, Screwed Up, Go-Go-Go and Artists for AI Catharxis and Junkyard.
Punk Models Maze Centi and Rammark Monjardin, Hazel Pecson, Jay Manligas and Ian Montejar also performed in the concert.
The finale of the program was a modeling of reggae and punk-look with human rights statements such as Environmental protection, Juvenile justice (Jail is no place for a child), Arms control (Stop violence against women), among others.
There were 4 models for reggae namely; Nicko Esperat, Ryan Aquino, Fordonalley Gargoles and Rubie Ann Lim and 10 models for punk; Bryant Tahajid, Rammark Monjardin, Raffy Omar, Arkhan Ali, Rommel Cenorico, Maze Centi, Fatima Adzra, Sittie Unga, Odz Unga and Winchi Sahidulla.
The models graced the occasion with freestyle walk, expressing themselves with styles of punk and reggae, proving that the youth can support human rights education through music and fashion. Bryant Tahajid bagged the title Model of the night; Raffy Omar, 1st runner up, and Nicko Esperat, 2nd runner-up.
The proceeds of the concert will benefit the organization’s human rights education program.The concert was supported by the Sanggunian ng Mag-aaral ng Ateneo (SMADZU) and LIKHA.
