MAYNILA (Mindanao Examiner / 22 Peb) - HUMIHIRIT ng patas na laban ang nakaditineng kandidato sa pagka-senador na si dating Navy Lieutenant Senior Grade Antonio Trillanes IV mula sa mga pagbanat ng administrasyon.
Sa isang kalatas, iginiit ni Trillanes kay Senador Joker Arroyo ang debate hinggil sa paglalatag ng solusyon sa mga problema sa bansa.
"I challenge candidate Joker Arroyo to a debate on resolutions to our country's problems. I am not a debater myself, but I believe this is a way of elevating the level of election campaigning to where it ought to be. May the candidate with the better prescriptions win," ani Trillanes.
Hindi nito nagustuhan ang sunud-sunod na pagbatikos sa kanya ng administrasyon na bagamat inaasahan na ang ganitong taktika ay mas makakabuti aniyang magpakalalaki ang mga kandidato.
"I was hoping that they were at least man enough to let me address their attacks squarely by not opposing my court motion to be allowed access to media. I want a fair fight," dagdag nito.
Kung tatanggihan aniya ni Arroyo ang hamon nito ay dapat ng tantanan nito ang pagiging "trapo."
Pumalag rin si Trillanes sa pagdadawit sa kanyang pamilya, kamag-anak at kaibigan sa harassment ng ilang miyembro ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
"Whoever is behind these, I beg you to spare them because this violates the ethics of any kind of warfare. The AFP leadership instead should welcome the possibility of having another former soldier as a legislator since it will mean another voice that will push for the interest of the officers and enlisted men," giit ni Trillanes.
