GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 19 Mar) – Philippine authorities have uncovered a plot by homegrown terrorists to blow up car bombs in General Santos City.
Intelligence reports said terrorists may strike in shopping malls, public markets and crowded areas. It said the attackers may use civilian vehicles laden with explosives.
Police have already tightened its security in the port city, bombed in the past by Abu Sayyaf and renegade members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
The reports did not say who would carry out the attacks. (Romy Bwaga)
