DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 17 Jun) - The Department of Public Works and Highways here has vowed to finish the construction of the Delta steel bridge that will replace the damaged Governor Generoso concrete bridge in Davao City before the year ends.
In a letter address to Rep. Prospero Nograles, House majority floor leader, Public Works Secy. Manuel Bonoan said the new 25-ton bridge would be stronger and has a life span of over 100 years.
"The design and structure of the Delta Bridge is suited to meet almost any type of environment and is easy to maintain," Bonoan said.
Nograles earlier asked the DPWH to fast track the construction of the 200-meter bridge, which collapsed early this year, due to its old structure.
President Gloria Arroyo has released some P300 million from the President Bridge Program to replace the old bridge. (Romy Bwaga)
