Lorry Rams Trike, 2 Killed in South RP

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / September 7, 2008) – Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured after a lorry rammed their tricycle in the southern Philippine city of Davao, police said.

Police said Florcepida Crais and Ruby Palmis were instantly killed in the mishap that occurred at a highway near the village of Bangkal late Saturday afternoon. The tricycle driver, Jerwin Palmis, was rushed to hospital and is in serious condition.

The lorry driver, Charlie Senario Jr, surrendered to the police after the accident and is being investigated. The lorry was transporting crude oil when it rammed the tricycle.

Meanwhile, unidentified gunmen on Saturday also killed a 32-year old loan collector, Allan Tan, in an attack in San Pedro district. The gunmen fled on motorbike after the attack.

Police said the motive of the killing is still unknown. (Romy Bwaga)
