DAVAO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 6, 2008) - Authorities have arrested a village policeman for allegedly poking his gun to two neighbors in Davao City in Mindanao.
Jose Cuizon, 37, was arrested over the weekend after victims Leonila Bonghanoy, 50, and her son Darwin, 24, sought the help of the local police. Cuizon denied the charges.
Meanwhile, two women were wounded in an attack in Davao City’s Maa district, police said.
It said the attack occurred in the village of San Rafael on Sunday and the victims Mercedez Alviola, 65, and Marilyn Victoriano, 19, were both shot by a lone gunman.
Police said it is still investigating the attacks which were believed connected to land conflict in Panabo City where Alviola owns a property being occupied by squatters, who threatened to harm her if they are evicted from the land. (Romy Bwaga)
