COTABATO CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / May 05, 2009) – A scion of a political clan in the southern Filipino province of Tawi-Tawi was elected as the new Speaker of the Regional Legislative Assembly (RLA) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Assemblywoman Rejie Generale replaced Speaker Pike Mentang who is under medical treatment after suffering a stroke. Generale, who was the former Speaker Pro-Tempore, was unanimously voted after Mentang vacated his post.
Assemblyman Datu Umbrah Datumanong from the Second District of Maguindanao province was elected Speaker Pro-Tempore, according to the ARMM’s Bureau of Public Information. (Mindanao Examiner)
