BUKIDNON, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 18, 2010) – Philippine authorities arrested a notorious drug dealer and seized from him at least 10 kilograms of marijuana from a notorious drug pushers in an operation in Bukidnon province in Mindanao.
Officials said combined teams from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Northern Mindanao led by Lieutenant Colonel Edwin Layese and the 10th Regional Public Safety Maintenance Battalion of the Philippine National Police headed by Senior Inspector Baldwin Sokoken, Jr arrested Joel Bacalso, 40, but a second suspect Roel Bernas managed to escape.
Anti-drug operations continue in Bukidnon and other areas in northern Mindanao. The arrest of Bacalso came just recently after security forces raided a marijuana field in nearby Misamis Oriental province. (Becky de Asis)
