Typhoon Nalgae wreaks havoc in the Philippines

MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 3, 2011) – At least 18 were dead after Typhoon Nalgae (local codename Quiel) hit the Philippines and left dozens of provinces and town under water and more than 165,000 people homeless.

The weather bureau said the typhoon has left the country and headed towards China where it already killed at least 3 people.

Officials said they are still monitoring a low pressure area over northern Luzon where most of the devastation was reported.

Many provinces in Luzon Island are still flooded and some areas have reported water as high as 20 feet, particularly in Pampanga province where the water reached up to rooftops. (Mindanao Examiner)
