Hunt Is On For 4 Prisoners Who Bolt Oroquieta Jail

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (Ben Balce / 06 Apr) Police mounted a massive search for 4 prisoners who bolted jail in Oroquieta City in Misamis Oriental province in northern Mindanao.

Chief Superintendent Florante Baguio, regional police commander, said the four escaped on Wednesday after destroying their cell window.
"We have alerted all police units in the area to hunt down the four escapees. We also appeal to their relatives or families to help convince the prisoners to surrender peacefully," he told the Zamboanga Journal.

The four -- described as armed and dangerous by the police -- were identified as Raul Laguardia, 30, off Ozamis City; Gideon Sarial, 18, a native of Oroqueta City; Ricky Fuentes, 18, of Ozamis City; and Ronnie Reyes, of Misamis Oriental province.

“The prisoners cut the steel window and climbed up through the perimeter fence at the back portion of the jail and then escaped," Baguio said, quoting an initial police report.

Police said the four were charged with murders and theft.

“These are all criminals and they should be all rearrested,” Baguio said.
He said the Bureau of Jail under Senior Inspector Merlie Flores and province police forces led by Senior Superintendent Minoy Darimbang and Oroquieta City policemen under Senior Inspector Benjamin Paltes were helping in the hunt.
