Technology Demonstrations – A Side Event of 15th MinBizCon Trade Exposition in Zamboanga

The Technology & Training Component of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Core Group spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) will conduct a techno-demo, such as: on August 31, 2006, 1. Fish Processing by Technical Education and Skills Development Authority from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, while on
September 1, 2006, 2. Meat processing by DOST from 8:00-10:00 am; 3. Mango Catsup by Department of Agriculture from 10:00-12:00 am; and, 4. VCO, Coco-sugar & Coco-Honey by Philippine Coconut Authority from 1:00-5:00 pm, according to Engr. Mahmud L. Kingking of DOST in Western Mindanao.

This activity is a side event to the 15th MinBizCon which will be held at Garden Orchid Hotel from August 31 to September 2, 2006, he added.

Engr. Kingking said, the SME Technology Training Component is composed of DOST, TESDA, DTI, DA, DAR, DOLE, NCC, DOH-CHD, and EMB. This group is working actively on the aspects of product development, such as: design, packaging and labeling, testing as well as business names registration, financing facilitation, among others.

This techno-demo aims to introduce and promote the most viable technology for SMEs as well as an avenue to distribute other relevant information related to SME development by other government agencies like NCC, DTI, DOH, EMB, DOLE, and DAR, he cited.

The expected viewers of this demo are those local SMEs, Balik-bayan visitors (OFWs), local government units (LGUs), academe (students of business schools and faculties), to include retired employees but not tired to make business, the general public in its entirety.
The techno-demo is free for anyone interested to attend and learn the various techniques, methods and procedures imparted by the resource speakers.
