ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES: Assassin Advertises Trade!

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 13 Mar) – This southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga, branded by local officials as Asia’s Latin City and an emerging tourist destination, may not be as safe as what they wanted it to be.

Aside from random killings and sporadic attacks by criminals and bombings by terrorists, an assassin now is advertising his trade – murder for money!

And from as low as P10,000 to as high as P70,000 he would kill anyone one -- from a village official to members of the Philippine Congress.

“Hitman! Always on the run 24 hours a day! Good for assassinating politicians and aspiring politicians,” the advertisement said of the offer posted Tuesday at a local website called wahoy.com.

And it was unknown whether somebody had taken the offer seriously, especially now that the country is holding its mid-year elections. Murder is considered a heinous crime in the largely Catholic country of more than 80 million.

The assassin did not leave any address, but gave his name only as Sam and left an instruction how to contact him. “Please use the message board to email me!”

Police said it could probably be a joke. (Mindanao Examiner)
