QUEZON CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 09 Apr) – Ipinaiimbestigan ngayon ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff General Hermogenes Esperon Jr. ang pagsisiyasat sa insidente ng pamamaril sa patrol base ng militar sa Sulu.
Kasabay nito, naniniwala si Esperon na maaaring pagtatalo ng mga sundalo ang naging sanhi ng naturang krimen.
"It's possible, but we don't want to be definite about it [yet]," ani Esperon.
"I do not see why they should be fighting each other. If there's a place where camaraderie should be strong, it should be at the company and platoon level," dagdag nito.
Iniatas rin ng heneral na pabalikin sa headquarters ang nalalabing tropa ng 53rd Infantry Battalion Charlie company na nakaligtas sa shooting rampage.
"The whole Charlie Company of the 35th Infantry Battalion has beenrecalled to Bud Datu, their headquarters so that everybody will bemade available as we see the need to get everybody's statement," direktiba ng AFP chief.
Siyam na sundalo at isang sibilyan ang napatay sa patrol base ng Army sa Silangkan, Parang, Sulu noong Sabado ng gabi. Dalawa naman ang sugatan.
Duda si Esperon sa posibilidad na may kinalaman sa terorismo o pag-atake ng mga terorista ang naganap na pamamaril.
"I will not rule it out, but it is very unlikely. I'd like to think that it's not a result of enemy action," pahayag pa ng heneral.
Ang Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) at ang counter-terrorism Joint Task Force Comet ang inatasan na tumutok sa pag-iimbestiga.
"The investigation is ongoing… For now, we just have to call it an unexplained shooting incident," ayon pa kay Esperon. (Juley Reyes)
