ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / Agosto 30, 2009) – Kaliwat-kanan na naman ang mga pagpaslang sa lungsod ng Zamboanga at base sa ulat ng pulisya ay umabot na sa mahigit 20 ang bilang ng mga nasawi mula nitong buwan.
Inamin naman ng pulisya na karamihan sa mga patayan ay dahil sa personal grudge, ngunit naaalarma naman ang publiko sa patuloy na pagtaas ng krimen sa Zamboanga.
Isinisisi naman ng iba ang mga patayan sa gun-for-hire na siyang nasa likod sa karamihan ng mga krimen. Ngunit bigo naman ang pulisya na matunton ang mga kinaroroonan ng mga ito.
Bukod pa ito sa mga bangkay na natatagpuan sa ibat-ibang lugar sa Zamboanga.
Mataas rin ang bilang ng mga kaso ng nakawan ng motorsiklo sa lungsod at karamihan sa mga ito ay ibinibenta rin sa ibang lugar o kaya ay binabaklas at saka ipinagbibili ang mga piyesa sa murang halaga.
Mataas rin ang problema ng droga sa Zamboanga at kamakailan ay isang “shabu tiange” umano ang nabuwag ng mga awtoridad sa Barangay Recodo na kilalang lugar na kung saan ay Talamak ang bentahan ng ipinagbabawal na droga. Sinabi ng pulisya na puspusan ang kanilang kampanya upang magigil ang paglaganap ng krimen sa lungsod. (Mindanao Examiner)

Muslim man killed in Zamboanga City
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Feb. 04, 2009) – A Muslim man was killed and his daughter wounded after they were shot Wednesday in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines.
Amirin Punjungan was killed instantly after he was shot near their house in Santa Catalina village. Punjungan was with his wife and daughter on a motorcycle when the gunman opened fired on the trio at least five times.
His daughter was rushed to hospital by neighbors. Relatives tagged Punjungan’s own neighbor as behind the killing, saying, the attack was triggered by a family feud.
Police said it is investigating the murder. (Mindanao Examiner)

Babae Tinadtad Ng Sariling Asawa Sa Mindanao
SOUTH COTABATO (Mindanao Examiner / 17 Mar) – Tinadtad hanggang mapatay ng isang lalaki ang sariling asawa matapos na umano’y magtalo dahil sa matinding selos sa babae sa bayan ng T’boli nitong lalawigan.
Sinabi ng pulisya na walang pinatay ang babae at matapos ng krimen ay agad naman tumakas ang suspek. Naganap ang pamamaslang kamakalawa ng hapon sa loob mismo ng bahay ng mag-asawa sa Barangay Kimatu.
Nabatid sa isinagawang imbestigasyon ng pulisya na matindi umano ang pagseselos ng 49-anyos na lalaki sa asawa nito kung kaya’t nauwi sa mainitang pagtatalo ang usapan.
Sa puntong iyon ay agad na kumuha ng gulok ang suspek at walang habas na pinagtataga ang asawa sa kabila ng pagmamakaawa nito. Pinaghahanap na ng pulisya ang suspek. (Romy Bwaga)

Lalaking Nasa Burol, Pinatay!
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 12 Mar) – Patay ang isang lalaki matapos itong barilin sa habang nakikipaglamay sa isang kamapamilya sa General Santos City sa Mindanao.
Daalwang iba pa ang sugatan sa pamamaril na naganap sa Barangay Conel nuong Linggo. Hindi na umabot sa pagamutan ang 42-anyos na si Reynaldo Solaiman dahil sa tinamong butas ng balas sa bungo.
Hindi naman mabatid kung sino ang nasa likod ng atake at ano ang motibo sa pagpatay. Nakikilamay lamang umano si Solaiman ng ito’y atakihin ng isang lalaki na mabilis tumakas sakay ang motorsiklo.
Tubong-Polomolok sa South Cotabato ang biktima, ayon sa pahayag nito sa Mindanao Examiner.

Man Arrested For Forcing Drugs On Hooker
DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 12 Mar) – Police arrested a man who forced a prostitute to use drugs before having sex with her in the southern Philippine city of Digos.
Police said the 28-year old man was arrested after the prostitute escaped from a motel over the weekend.
She said the man forced her to smoke the drug called “shabu” or “poor man’s cocaine” before they had sex. She said she escaped from the motel after pretending to buy a bottle of mineral water and sought the help of policemen.
Police said it would file criminal charges against the man. (Romy Bwaga)

Police Nab Shooter Of Party Boy
DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 08 Mar) – Police arrested a village councilor accused of killing a teenager in the southern Filipino province of Davao Del Norte.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said the official was implicated in the killing of Tan Viter, 16.
The teenager was walking home with his friends after attending a disco party in Braulio Dujali town when the 56-year old councilor allegedly shot him without apparent reason. The attack occurred Tuesday, police said.
Police said it is still investigating the motive of the killing. The victim’s family said they would file murder charges against the official. (Romy Bwaga)

DAVAO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 02 Mar) – A teenager working on a car wash shop was stabbed dead by unidentified assailant in attack in downtown Davao City in the southern Philippines.
Police said Roel Rosel, 17, was killed at a parking area just outside the Victoria Plaza Mall late Thursday. He was stabbed eight times. The suspect escaped, police said.
A teener was also injured after his girlfriend’s 12-year old brother stabbed him in the back Thursday night in Davao City.
Police said the 16-year old victim was rushed to hospital after the attack. His assailant also escaped.
The father’s victim said the assailant attacked while his son and girlfriend were talking in front of their house. It was unknown what triggered the suspect to attack his sister’s boyfriend. (Romy Bwaga)

Teener Shot Dead In South RP
TAGUM CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 23 Feb) – An unidentified gunman barged into a house in the southern Philippines and shot dead a teenager who was watching television, police said.
Police said the Alexander Pedros, 17, was killed instantly in the attack late Thursday in the village of Mankilam.
”Pedros was inside his house watching television when the suspect barged inside and shot him twice in the head,” a police investigator said, adding, they are still investigating the motive of the attack.
The gunman escaped after the shooting. The investigator did not say if Pedros was alone at the time of the attack. (Romy Bwaga)
