Synopsis : At 4:00 a.m. today, Typhoon "JUAN" was located based on satellite and surface data at 1,140 km East of Northern Luzon (16.8°N 133.8°E) with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph.

Forecast to move Northwest at 20 kph.

Synopsis: At 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, Tropical Depression "LAWIN" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 90 kms Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes (14.5°N 125.0°E) with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 17 kph.

Forecast: Bicol region, Quezon and Aurora provinces will have rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of Central and Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening. Light to moderate winds blowing from the southeast will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southeast to southwest over Visayas and Mindanao. The coastal waters along these areas will be slight to moderate except during thunderstorms.

Synopsis: At 2 a.m. today, Typhoon "IGME" was estimated based on satellite and surface data at 280 kms north northeast of Basco, Batanes (23.0°N, 122.4°E) with maximum sustained winds of 140 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 170 kph. It is moving west northwest at 15 kph.

Forecast: Extreme Northern Luzon will experience stormy weather. The rest of Northern Luzon will have rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of Luzon and Western Visayas will have monsoon rains. The rest of Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Forecast: Extreme Northern Luzon will experience stormy weather. The rest of Northern Luzon will have rains and gusty winds and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. The rest of the country particularly the western sections will experience monsoon rains.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and the western sections of Visayas and Mindanao and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Forecast: Extreme Northern Luzon will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms while the western section of Luzon will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.

Moderate to strong winds blowing from the southwest will prevail over Luzon with moderate to rough seas. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to southeast with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms.

Forecast:Extreme Northern Luzon and Isabela will have stormy weather with rough to very rough seas while the rest of northern Luzon and aurora will have rains and gusty winds with moderate to rough coastal waters. the rest of Luzon and Visayas particularly the western sections will experience monsoon rains which may trigger flash floods and landslides. Mindanao will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
