9 Killed In Cotabato Road Accident

COTABATO CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 15 Feb) – At least 9 people had died and 6 others injured when they were thrown off from a wayward lorry whose break system failed Thursday in Cotabato City in the southern Philippines, officials said.

The lorry came from the nearby town of South Upi and were delivering 8 tons of corn to a market place in Cotabato City, said Abdullah Cusain, the spokesman for the local mayor, Muslim Sema.

He said the mayor has ordered police to investigate the accident. The driver, who was identified only as Flores, had been arrested by the police.

The victims were mostly farmers and among those killed were two children both aged 7.

“Mayor Muslim Sema has ordered authorities to investigate the accident. He also ordered that all those injured be taken care immediately and provide them medicines,” Cusain told the Mindanao Examiner. (Mindanao Examiner)
