ZAMBOANGA CITY (Mindanao Examiner / 06 Jun) – A mining firm is to begin exploration project in the southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga, officials said.
Officials said Hard Rock Mineral Trading Inc. has been granted a Mineral Production Sharing Agreement for the exploration and development of nickel and cobalt deposits in Zamboanga.
Environment Secretary Angelo Reyes said Hard Rock Mineral Trading Inc. is one of several firms granted mineral production sharing agreements and exploration permits.
The Philippines is expected to get some P224 million in investments from these firms in the next two years.
The other mining firms are the Ivanhoe Philippines Inc., Colossal Mining Corp., East Coast Mineral Resources Co. Inc., Cagdianao Mining Corp., Holcim Philippines Inc., Apex Mining Co. Inc., Norte de Oro Mining and Industrial Corp., and Berong Nickel Corp.
Besides the Hard Rock Mineral Trading Inc., Linktone International Mining Corp. is also mining iron ore in Zamboanga City. (Mindanao Examiner)
