Philippine Embassy website in Bangkok hacked!

MANILA, Philippines (Mindanao Examiner / Aug. 16, 2011) – The Philippine Embassy’s website in Bangkok was hacked, but efforts are underway to resume the portal and continue its service to Filipino nationals in Thailand.

Television ABC TV 5 reported that First Secretary and Consul General Edgar Badajos have confirmed hacking and said they are now working to restore the website.

“This is to inform the Public that the Philippine Embassy Bangkok website (www.philembassy-bangkok.net) has been hacked,” Badajos said.

“We ask for your kind understanding while the site is being restored.
Meantime, for continuing updates on Embassy activities, please visit the Philippine Embassy Facebook account at Philippine Embassy Thailand,” he added.

The motive of the hacking is still unknown and no group or individual claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Philippine Embassy has posted this notice to the portal’s front page: “We are upgrading our site.
