MANILA (Mindanao Examiner / Oct. 1, 2011) – Ibinuhos ng ibat-ibang progresibong grupo at mga organisasyon ng manggagawa ang suporta nito sa likod ng Philippine Airlines Employees Association (PALEA).
Nag-strike ang PALEA sa buong bansa bilang protesta sa planong kontraktwalisasyon at job outsourcing ng Philippine Air Lines dahil mawawalan umano ng trabaho ang mga empleyado. Hindi na rin nag-renew ng Collective Bargaining Agreement ang national flag carrier sa mga manggagawa.
Binatikos naman ni Congresswoman Luz Ilagan si Pangulong Benigno Aquino dahil sa pagkampi nito sa PAL at sa pagsasabing labag sa batas ang ginawang sit-down strike ng PALEA.
“It is indeed an outrage that President Aquino refused to see the injustices that PAL workers are fighting against while selfishly focusing on the inconvenience of the strike,” ani Ilagan sa pahayag nito sa Mindanao Examiner. “PAL employees, from the ground crew to its flight attendants and pilots have long been shortchanged by the PAL management and deserve the wages, benefits and tenure that the management adamantly refuses to give.”
Sinabi naman ni PAL President Jaime Bautista na sinabotahe ng PALEA ang operasyon ng flag carrier. Nakiusap rin umano ang PAL sa PALEA na huwag mag strike ngunit bigo rin umano sila.
Mahigit sa 200 domestic at international flights ang apektado ng strike.
Ayon kay Ilagan ay lehitimo umano ang protesta ng PALEA. “The protest of the PAL employees is just and legitimate and it deserves the people’s support. Moreover, P’Noy’s refusal to resolve the issues at hand while condemning the PAL workers’ protest is a go-signal for capitalists to implement labor flexibilization and outsourcing at the expense of Filipino workers,” sabi pa nito.
Nitong Setyembre 29 ay sinabi ng PAL na may mamamahala na sa ground operations nito dahil may nakuha ng mga outsourced employees ang flag carrier. Naunang sinabi umano ng PAL na aalisin sa trabaho ang mga empleyado nitong Setyembre 27. (Mindanao Examiner)
